True Heroes: Julian Pitlovits & Rob Court

Not all heroes wear capes. But, some wear military uniforms. And others just really love taking selfies. Lots of selfies.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we spoke to a real Dad and True Hero, Julian Pitlovits. We also spoke about fellow father and True Hero, Rob Court, with his wife, Nicola.

Selfie-mad Dad, Julian, told us more about the family photo he shared with us during our recent #truetolife photo competition. He even shared his favourite Dad joke, too (which you definitely won’t be disappointed with!).

And you’ll see why the second photo of Rob Court and his son, Harry, caught our eye. We challenge you not to say “Awwww”

Julian Pitlovits a.k.a ‘Mr. Selfie’

“This photo was taken next to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in April this year. It was a selfie and I’m known by the kids as Mr Selfie as I’m always taking them (lol!).

Although I love this picture, it’s missing my youngest son who is 10 years old, but has autism and doesn’t like flying. So, he stays with his Mum (as we are separated). We take him to Centre Parcs and days out for his holidays, although one of my dreams and goals is to take him to Dubai or Florida one day.

Being a Dad means everything to me, and it’s very important to play a part in their [his children’s] lives. I try and be the best Dad I can be, and dealing with autism certainly has its challenges.

Advice for my sons would be: Be the best Dad you can be and enjoy every minute, as it doesn’t last too long. The kids will be grown up and live their own lives before you know it. Always be honest and true and have manners – they cost nothing, but a lot of people forget them these days.”

“My favourite Dad joke? What do you call a deer with no eyes? No-eyed deer (laugh). What do you call a deer with no eyes and no legs? Still no-eyed deer… (more laughter).”

Rob Court

“This picture was taken last year at home in London. It’s of my son Harry and his Dad (Rob), who had just returned from an exercise away from home. It’s one of many that we’ve got! Harry was so happy to see him, he misses him a lot when he’s gone.

Rob is a Guardsman in the Irish Guards, so sometimes he can be away for a few weeks at a time, sometimes a few months. It all depends.

Rob is an amazing dad to his three boys. He is very hands-on and loves reading Harry his bedtime stories. He plays games with my eldest son and they have a fab time!

This photo makes me feel so proud. I love how much of a close bond they have together. They sure are two peas in a pod.”
